Apple founder Steve Wozniak has reportedly reaffirmed his positive attitude towards Bitcoin (BTC) despite not being a Bitcoin investor himself.
A vocal Bitcoin fan who once called it “the only digital gold,” Wozniak described Bitcoin as a “tech marvel” and a “unique mathematical formula” at Talent Land Digital 2021, a major virtual event in Latin America dedicated to technology and dedicated to innovation.
According to a report by local news agency El Sol de México on Thursday, Apple’s co-founder also said that bitcoin is better than gold, meaning it’s easier to mine bitcoin blocks than it is to find and extract gold. :
“Gold is limited and you have to look for it. Bitcoin is the most amazing mathematical miracle. I don’t invest in bitcoin but I believe it will still be. “
Many players and analysts in the industry refer to Bitcoin as “digital gold” because gold and Bitcoin have a limited supply and thus can maintain their value in the market. While gold is limited by physical supply and mining difficulty, bitcoin mining is limited to 21 million coins from the source code, meaning there will be no new bitcoins after the last coin in 2140.
Wozniak’s remarks came shortly after Ricardo Salinas Pliego, Mexico’s third-richest person, said it was “very right” to treat bitcoin as the new gold. “That’s absolutely true, Bitcoin is the new gold, but it is much more portable, transporting Bitcoin is much easier than having gold bullion in your pocket,” said the billionaire.
